It's funny how much easier it is to write a review for an awful restaurant versus a great one...22 Bowens is of the latter kind. Simply put, impeccable food paired with fantastic service and true New England ambience make for a wonderful dining experience. The only reason I don't rate this restaurant 5 scoops is due to the associated price tag – the experience is pricey, but worth it for special occasions.
The menu ranges from all types of quality seafood, poultry and beef along with an extensive wine list. I whole heartedly recommend the prime rib special on Wednesday evenings during the off season. Maybe it's just my Colorado blood, but 22 Bowens is the only place on the island to satisfy a man's desire for a huge hunk of meat.
If you are in the mood to soak up the quintessential Newport experience, throw on your pink trousers and a navy blazer and bring that special someone to feast on a baked stuffed lobster out on the patio while pretending to own one of the yachts in the harbor. You may look like an idiot, but everyone will be envious...of getting to eat the lobster at least.
