Café Zelda is THE hidden little gem of Newport. It's located on the 5th Ward side of Thames and seems to have quite the local following.

If you get in for dinner a little earlier (around 6pm) you'll have the whole restaurant to yourself. It's a smaller very intimate dining area with great chill music playing quietly for the perfect ambience. Unfortunately, because of it's smaller size, once 7pm hits the place fills up and gets loud quite fast.

Their staff is friendly, and, believe it or not, the service is wonderful. They go out of their way to truly keep you satisfied.

Their menu has a great selection, but I STRONGLY encourage you to order the Chicken Fried Lobster. The lobster tail is cut in half lengthwise and the claw meat is deshelled, then it's flash fried in the shell. Not only is the lobster the best I've ever had, but it's served with mashed potatoes with a lobster sauce poured on top which is fantastic!

I also need to mention their dessert. Their Root Beer Float is served with a shot of Stoli Vanilla. It's a perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth and finish off such a fabulous meal.

The second half of the restaurant is reserved for their bar which is a great, intimate pub. The bar tender is very friendly, and so is the crowd that you find hanging out there. Oh yeah, this area is completely shut off from the dining area, so you don't have to worry about it getting too rowdy. It's restaurants like these that deserve something better than 5 scoops - maybe 5 scoops deep fried in chocolate sauce.
