Thai Cuisine, Newport, Rhode Island

Down lower Thames near the Sambar is a small Thai restaurant I overlooked for a long time. Thai Cuisine doesn't look like much from the outside, or the inside for that matter, but don't let that deter you - the fare is top-notch.
The menu is rather extensive and encompasses classic Thai dishes, to Japanese and Chinese favorites. For an extra two bucks you can make any meal a combo which adds soup, salad and two crab Rangoon wontons. I think what I truly enjoyed most was the fact that you immediately notice the quality in every dish, even the simple soups or salads. The ingredients are fresh, flavorful and compliment each other perfectly. The Pad-Thai is guaranteed to be excellent, but I personally recommend the rice noodles with chicken and shrimp in soy sauce, not to mention the Crab Rangoon which are the best I have ever had – hands down.
Of course, my only complaint is the service. Our Russian exchange server did her best to jibber jabber on the phone as much as she could in between her occasional bursts of actually working...that's Newport for you.
The price is on par with a good Chinese restaurant, $7-8 per entrée (not the shitty place next to 7-eleven where they probably serve sea-gull instead of chicken). Since I like this place so much, I'll just settle for take out until the summer arrives and I can dine out in the garden and perhaps the servers will pick up the pace a little bit.
