Easter weekend has a way of sneaking up, and suddenly your calendar is full. Egg races, waterfront events, and a few good excuses to grab a drink or dessert are all in this Scoop!

We also found a couple local spots that are easy to miss but worth knowing about. If you are looking for something low key or something social, you will find both here.

🥐 Proper baguettes and a slow Parisian pace

1000 Bristol St N St. 10, Newport Beach, CA

With Easter Sunday just around the corner, Moulin feels like it belongs to the locals again. The smell of yeast and high-quality butter hits you the moment you step onto the patio!

The shelves are filling up with French chocolates, but the real draw remains the steady, daily staples: like a crusty sourdough that’s worth the premium or a savory chicken and mushroom pastry that makes for a perfect, easy lunch.

Grab a cafe au lait, snag one of those signature red chairs, and lean into a morning that feels miles away from the PCH.

🎱 Where the cues and conversations flow

4229 Birch St Ste 180, Newport Beach, CA

Just off the 73 and 55, CueZone Billiards & Snooker Club has quickly become a favorite for those seeking a more sophisticated evening out.

It feels more like entering a modern gallery than a traditional hall, with bright, airy proportions and plenty of room to move between the professional snooker and Chinese 8-ball tables.

Since opening in January, it has grown into a refreshing local fixture, particularly during the relaxed Snooker Social Sundays. Going to test your aim in a friendly tournament or just want a clean, quiet spot to catch up with friends? It is a well-managed addition to Newport Beach that makes our corner of Orange County feel a bit more world-class.

🚤 Safe Harbor After a Close Call at Ladder Rock

Images were generated for illustrative purposes

The Gist On Saturday evening, things took a scary turn near Ladder Rock when a small boat lost power and drifted right into the rough surf. The Newport Beach Fire Department, along with help from the Coast Guard and Sheriff’s Department, jumped into action around 5:00 p.m. to reach the four people on board. Our brave local lifeguards actually swam a line through the crashing waves to hook up the vessel so the Sea Watch could pull it back to the safety of deep water.

Why It Matters While the four passengers walked away with only minor injuries, this could have been a real tragedy if not for the "neighbor-helping-neighbor" spirit and expert coordination of our first responders. It’s a good moment to give a little extra thanks to the folks who keep our waters safe.
