If you’ve been craving a quick trip without the airfare, Molo delivers it right on the waterfront!
This charming osteria plates up house-made pasta like silky cacio e pepe spun in a cheese wheel, spaghetti alle vongole with just the right kick, and truffle-kissed bites that feel straight out of Sorrento.
Pair it with a glass of wine al fresco and you’ve got la dolce vita, Newport-style. Learn more here.

🍫 A Sweet Stop with Timeless Charm

135 Newport Center Dr, Newport Beach, CA
The moment you walk through the doors at See’s Candies, the rich scent of chocolate sets the scene for a treat-filled visit. Friendly faces are quick to offer a sample; a tradition rooted in Mary See’s recipes dating back to 1921.
Shoppers come for everything from lemon drops to custom holiday boxes, and the warm service makes the visit feel like more than a candy run: it’s a little Newport ritual wrapped in sweetness. Learn more here.

🌿 Big Canyon Restoration Nears Final Phase
The Gist: Newport Beach is wrapping up its largest-ever nature restoration at Big Canyon Park along Upper Newport Bay. The $10 million project, years in the making, is restoring 60 acres of wetlands and trails to their natural state, with the final 13-acre phase set to create a tidal lagoon and vibrant habitat.
Why It Matters: Locals can soon enjoy healthier wetlands, improved hiking and biking, and a haven for birds and wildlife right in their backyard. Construction begins this month and should finish by spring. Read more here.
📖 Newport Beach Names First Historian Laureate
The Gist: Former journalist William Lobdell has been appointed Newport Beach’s very first historian laureate. Known for his “Newport in the Rearview Mirror” podcast and engaging talks at City Council meetings, Lobdell has a gift for bringing local history to life — from Fashion Island’s beginnings to the city’s first woman mayor.
Why It Matters: His new four-year role ensures Newport’s stories, landmarks, and maritime heritage are preserved and shared with pride. Lobdell will work with local historical groups and take part in community events. Read more here.
