The week the Newport Beach International Boat Show returns to Lido Marina Village is always a good week to be in this city. The harbor hums a little differently, the Via Oporto stretch fills up with curious visitors and serious yacht enthusiasts in equal measure, and the restaurants nearby do very well for themselves.

But the boat show isn't all that's happening this week, not by a long shot. A local artisan gallery deserves your attention and there's a French restaurant along PCH that comes up in conversation more often than you'd expect for a place that rarely advertises itself. 🛥️ The Newport Beach International Boat Show Returns!

The Gist: The Newport Beach International Boat Show is back April 16 through 19 at Lido Marina Village, transforming 3434 Via Oporto into one of the West Coast's premier on-water showcase events. This year's show features more than 200 vessels from top builders and brokerages, plus live entertainment, boutique shopping, gourmet dining, and hands-on marine experiences across both land and water. Preview opening night is Thursday, April 16, from 2 to 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $40; children 12 and under are free. Parking shuttles run from nearby lots.

Why It Matters: For a city whose identity is built around the harbor, this is the week when Newport Beach puts that identity squarely on display for over 5,000 daily visitors. It is also a significant community and economic event for the Lido area, with waterfront restaurants and shops seeing some of their biggest days of the year.

🥂 Fine French dining with a rockstar twist

Tucked along the Crystal Cove stretch of PCH, Marché Moderne remains one of Orange County’s most intentional dining rooms. Chef-owners Florent and Amelia Marneau balance white-tablecloth elegance with a warmth that feels purely neighborly.

While the salt-crusted epis bread and classic filet au poivre are non-negotiable, the new "Hagar-ita Verde" adds a playful edge, featuring Sammy Hagar’s Santo Mesquila with matcha and yuzu. It’s sophisticated, soulful, and always worth the drive.

⚓️ Where the makers mind the shop

The brick paths of Pelican Courtyard lead to Seaside Gallery and Goods, a collective space where the creators themselves are often the ones greeting you at the door. It is a quiet reprieve from the usual bustle, filled with block-printed textiles, handcrafted jewelry, and coastal apparel curated by neighbors.

You might even find a new favorite read like The Paris Novel paired with an exclusive hand-poured candle to match the story!

Meet Moostache, a dapper tuxedo kitten

He is quite the local celebrity at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter. At just four months old, Moostache is small in size but carries a huge personality.

He was found as a friendly stray and has spent his days winning over every volunteer with his inquisitive nature. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, making him ready for a smooth transition into a home with children or other social pets.
